Our focus this month has been on better living. A part of living the abundant life that Jesus said we can have in John 10:10 is being free from stress. Stress, which usually stems from worry and fear, can be deadly. The world tells us that stress cannot be eliminated; only managed. But as Christians, we do not have to be victims of stress.
How do we become free from stress?
The Bible’s answer is this, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you” (1 Peter 5:7). The key to stress-free living is being solely depended on God in every area of life. Adam and Eve did not experience stress before the fall, because they were totally depended on God. They had no care, because they trusted God to supply all their needs. After the fall, they were under the curse; they had to depend on their own hard labor, “the sweat of the brow,” which also symbolizes stress (Genesis 3:19). Jesus freed us from the curse; so we no longer have to depend on ourselves. We can rest in God, trusting Him as our Source.
Relying on God is freedom; choose to rest in Him today and forever more.
