How many times do you get upset in a day? One, two, ten? Now ask yourself…is it really worth it? Will it matter six months from now?
I have spent a good portion of my past being unhappy about one thing or another. Was it worth it? At the time, probably yes. Now that I am older, I can pretty much assure you that it wasn’t.
Life’s Great Lesson
Learning to let go of things is one of life’s great lessons.
If I could tell my younger self what I know now, it would be this. Hanging on to negativity is a waste of time and energy. Let it go and move on because you’ll have bigger things to take care of, and more joyful experiences in to which to participate.
Easier said than done, I know. Let’s look at this more simply.
Pain vs. Freedom
Letting go means that we are hanging onto something that is causing insurmountable pain. Who wants that 24/7? We experience so much angst in our life as it is; and being in pain, no matter what kind, drains the body, the mind and the soul.
Pain will leave you, when you let go.” —Jeremy Aldana
Some pain can’t be helped, but letting go of the kind that we created ourselves releases the energy that has been holding us down and making us less than the person we were meant to be.
Letting go also offers something that many don’t have. The chance to be free. Free of all the things that are holding us back, free to accept ourselves for the way we are, and free to ensure that life is what we make of it. We are in control of our thoughts, our actions and the way we respond to things. Don’t let anyone or anything sway you different.
So whatever it is that is causing the pain, take it from someone who has been there and just let it go. Make a conscious choice to relieve yourself from the things that are weighing you down, making you upset, and disrupting the happiness that you so rightfully deserve. Get rid of it all, no matter what it is. Let it go so that you can open up space in your life for something better, more fulfilling, and more joyful.
Just let it go…I promise it will be all right.
