Do you have a religion, or a relationship? Is God only a name to you, or Someone you know personally?
I wonder how many people (including Christians) truly and wholeheartedly have experienced and continue to experience a real-life relationship with God Almighty.
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20 NIV).
I wonder how many people actually hear Jesus Christ knocking at the door of their hearts. Even Christians — who are saved — struggle with distinguishing Christ’s voice. Who’s voice are they hearing: God’s, their’s, or Satan’s?
God said He has plans to prosper you, but what are those plans? How do you find out? You’ve gone to your pastor, you’ve asked your leaders, you read the Bible, fasted, and yet you cannot understand why you’re here on earth. And beloveds, there is only one way to find out: by listening to God.
How can we follow God and Christ if we cannot hear God and Christ? Jesus said,
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27 NIV).
You must know without hearing God, it is impossible to listen to God. Without listening to God, it is impossible to follow God.
You cannot hear that which is not present. Therefore, Jesus saying if anyone hears His voice implies that He is currently speaking. Can you hear Him?
For the next few weeks I will be starting a new series entitled God is speaking. Can you hear Him?
The series will go as follows:*
Week One: Check 1. Check 2. Preparing to Listen
Week Two: What Stops Us from Hearing God
Week Three: Un-Soundproofing God
Week Four: Discerning God’s Voice from Others
To eliminate confusion, please note the other writers’ articles at Proverbs and Wisdom will be separate from this series.
*These topics are subject to change due to the course the Holy Spirit provides.
