Dancing in Encouragement

It’s crazy! Today is our last Encourage Me Wednesday — for September — and if you’re wondering where the time has went so are we. Instead of having our regular encouragement article we figured we’d dance around and share what we considered to be encouraging highlights.

Just because bad things have happened to you doesn’t mean you are a bad person. It also doesn’t mean all is lost:

Several bad experiences isn’t enough to strip you of what only God can give you.

Using your strength creatively:

Lead with your strength. There is something in you that you have to offer to other people that is refreshing to them because it represents something they don’t have. Finding your confidence in that is much more valuable than trying to compensate by pretending to be efficient in areas that you are not.

(read the article “Finding Strength within Yourself”)

When you’ve grown discouraged about what you haven’t accomplished yet, remember this:

You must always build your self-image on purpose and not on performance. Purpose, not achievement alone, is the ruler by which life is measured.

Having trouble sleeping at night? Try this:

Before you go to bed, give your troubles to GOD. He will be up all night anyway.

Pain doesn’t last forever.

If you’re going through a tough issue now don’t make it more than it has to be. That’s not to say it isn’t important, but that it isn’t everything there is to life. Two weeks from now, two months from now, twenty two years from now you’ll realize that there were bigger things to come. Everything you’re going through will prepare you for better things to come in the future.

Hurting is tough, but so is letting go. Here’s some advice:

Some pain can’t be helped, but letting go of the kind that we created ourselves releases the energy that has been holding us down and making us less than the person we were meant to be.

Letting go also offers something that many don’t have. The chance to be free. Free of all the things that are holding us back, free to accept ourselves for the way we are, and free to ensure that life is what we make of it. We are in control of our thoughts, our actions and the way we respond to things. Don’t let anyone or anything sway you different.

(read “Let it go”)

Lastly, know regardless of what you may be experiencing or have dealt with God doesn’t allow what we consider to be setbacks, hiccups, and even handicaps to hinder us from our purpose. So keep your head up and be encouraged. Yes, life is hard but challenge yourself to find at least one thing to be happy about today. When you do, tell someone about it. This can make you feel better, and perhaps encourage them too.
