Weekly Encouragement

It’s My Birthday, Help Me Save Lives…Please?

Next week is my birthday (May 30th) and to celebrate, I’ve decided to give it all away for something better: the chance to save lives.

You see, most people my age would round-up their friends, go drinking and partying, spend the night out doing who knows what. That isn’t me though. If I’m going to celebrate living, I want to celebrate life well – not foolishly.
Because not a day goes by when someone, somewhere, doesn’t get to celebrate their 20th birthday. Every day 4,500 children die simply because they don’t have clean drinking water.
The good news is, their death is preventable. The bad news is since they lack resources, they’ll continue dying.

This year I’ve dedicated my extra year of life to give life. I started a fund-raiser with the help of charity: water to help people just like you and I, children just like we once were, receive clean water. I’m not asking for anything luxurious and neither are they. Water is a necessity for life. What would you do without water? Clean water?

So here’s my birthday agenda…

Charity: water says all it takes to give one person clean water is $20 dollars. Meaning, if20 people give just $20 dollars then together we’ll be able to save 20 lives – one person for each year I’ve lived.

But maybe you don’t have $20 to give…that’s okay. Whether it’s .20 cents, $2, or something else it all adds up.

The best part: 100% of all donations go directly toward water projects. And about 18 months after this campaign ends, charity: water will show us where and how every dollar we raised ended up helping in the field. We’ll see GPS coordinates photos and more details about the communities we’ve impacted. Pretty cool, huh? How’s that for a birthday gift!

Please help me make this one of the greatest birthday’s ever. Let’s save lives together – one person at a time.

To take part in my fund-raiser, go to this link: Spread the word too (email, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)! Get life to give life.

To find out more about charity: water, visit their website, watch their video, or start your own fundraiser – perhaps a birthday one like mine?
