Why is family important?

Why is family important? Everyone has their own reason, so I’ll share mine in just two short paragraphs.

Family first starts with God.

2 Corinthians 6:18 tells us God is our Father, and we are His sons and daughters. Right here we see that the first family established isn’t between our earthly mothers and fathers, it’s with God, our Creator.

2 Corinthians 6:18 ESV

“And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

And, family creates unity. Despite how functional or dysfunctional you may think your family is, God intended families to be whole. Together we are more effective, more powerful, and the love and lessons we share with one another is important.

So thank God for your family, forgive them if they’ve done wrong to you, and walk in love.

Thank you for the great information presented here. I have been blessed with an excellent family, and I am thankful for that. I am convinced that the best way to create a great family is to be a great "family person" yourself. When we strive to be our best, it has a positive effect on the rest of the family, and helps create the beautiful environment of unity we all crave. Thank you for this excellent reminder : )
