Since we have free-will, it is easy for us to get consumed with our own personal wants and desires. We tend to make decisions based off how we feel, instead of listening and obeying what God is telling us during this season of our lives. There are some things that have not worked out for us or that have led to trouble, because we decided to ignore God and follow and trust our hearts instead.
I do not believe that every desire is bad. There are some desires that God has given us, such as the desire to be loved. God wants to bless us and fulfill our desires, but He may not do it the way we expect Him to. Your heart may be leading you to join a dating site, but God could be telling you to wait and trust Him to send you the right mate at the right time.
When we let our emotions drive us instead of the Holy Spirit, we miss out on the real blessing God has for us. We end up settling for less than His best for us. God’s plan may seem hard and unreasonable, but in the end, it reaps the most results.
Do not grow weary doing well, you will receive your harvest in due time.
Whatever area of your life that you’re holding on to because you don’t trust God to come through for you, I challenge you to write down on a sheet of paper. It could be more than one area. After writing them down, surrender these areas to the Lord, trusting Him fulfill these areas.
Remember Matthew 16:25, “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my [Jesus] sake, you will save it.”
It is not an easy thing to do, but it is beneficial for living the best life God has for you.
