Unconditional Love

I remember a time where I was so cold-hearted towards a certain person. Despite his love and commitment to me, I cheated on him. I lied and played him every chance I got. I didn’t care for his feelings; moving along in life marching to the beat of my own drum. Throughout it all, I wondered why he never left me, or why he didn’t do the things to me that I did to him. Why would someone stay with another person who was unfaithful to them? What was it in me that he loved so much?

I’m sure you are wondering at this point why I did the things I did to such a faithful person, and why did he continue to stay with me throughout it all?

The answer to this question is because He is God!

During my years of rebellion I lied, cheated and honestly neglected to even acknowledge Him in my life. It wasn’t until I made the decision to be completely committed and faithful to Him that I realized His love was something I could not change. In John 1:4-16 it states that God is Love; and since that is who He is, I could not change that even with my carnal and sinful nature.

As I sit here and reflect back on my life, I can’t help but smile and give him praise because he did not take me out while I was in my sinful nature. With the wrongful things I did, God still forgave me; with all the cheating I did on him, He still loved me. He never gave up on me, and continued to love me despite my shortcomings (whew!). God’s love is truly amazing!

So what does this all mean? As I always say, we MUST get back to our first love! We have all fallen short but by his grace, mercy and love we are all here to see another day and therefore we have to make our relationship with him first priority. God’s love for us will never change; His love is not like any other love we will find on earth. Take some time to reflect on God’s love and begin to praise Him for ALL He has brought you through.

His love is unconditional; there are no limits or expiration dates, and therefore God’s love will never fail us.

Many Blessings,
