Resurrection Sunday-What does it mean?

As Resurrection Sunday is only a day away, many often wonder what does this day mean for Christians. While some may understand it’s significance other’s may not quite realize the degree of importance that Resurrection Sunday holds.
Resurrection Sunday is a symbolic day. I’m quite sure that many of you have heard the story as to why it’s important. The three days combined, Good Friday, Glorious Saturday & Resurrection Sunday represent, the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It represents that He made a decision, to get beaten, battered and bruised on the cross over two thousand years ago, to pay for YOUR sin debt in full. HE offered up Himself as a living sacrifice so that YOU, would not have to go hell or pay the price and go through what He went through.
Jesus didn’t want His children to have to keep offering up sacrifices constantly to redeem them of their sins. Instead, HE became YOUR redeemer. For Christians everywhere, this day is glorious and a day of rejoicing. God sent His son to die on the cross for us, when we don’t deserve it, so that we can have life and breathe. We are covered by the blood that was shed on the Cross of Calvary and that in itself is something that is truly remarkable because Jesus did it out of love. He didn’t yearn to see us suffer. We as Christians are forever grateful and thankful to our Lord for being our everything. Because that is who HE is, HE is our everything!
Gregory Nazianzen once said:
“Today is the day of salvation for the world… Christ is risen from the dead: arise with him. Christ returns to himself: you also must return to him. Christ has come forth from the tomb: free yourselves from the fetters of evil. The gates of hell are open and the power of death is destroyed. The old Adam is superseded, the new perfected. In Christ a new creation is coming to birth: renew yourselves.”
So as we celebrate Resurrection Sunday, never forget what Jesus did for you. Because that my friends, is unconditional love and a love that you will NEVER encounter anywhere else.
Happy Resurrection Sunday!
