Comfort in the Midst of Discomfort

For He has not turned away from the suffering of the one in pain or trouble. He has not hidden His face from him. But He has heard his cry for help.” Psalm 22:24 (NLV)

Whatever discomfort you’re experiencing at this very moment whether it be an illness, divorce, bankruptcy, depression, job layoff, and the list goes on, know in the midst of it all you CAN find comfort.

How? Jesus! Not only is He our Lord and Savior and Redeemer, but our mighty Comforter!

Interplay of light and dark

In times of difficulty, it can feel as if “you’re the only one,” but that is far from the truth. Each and every one of us will experience discomfort in some type of fashion.

Regardless of how painful and discomforting a trying time may be you are not alone in this! Not even for a second! Jesus is with you and is your ever-present help! And He’ll help you if you have faith and expect that He will. Stand on Christ’s promises and speak them over your life daily!

I am going through a very discomforting time of my own. It has been an extremely rough couple of years and for a while I’ll admit, I was in a really dark spot. I was at my wit’s end — ready to give up. Yet, God spoke something very clearly to me. I felt it in my soul, spirit, and my heart.

God said:

No matter how bad things get in your life I am with you always and as long as you keep Me as your focus and you stand on My Word and promise, everything will be okay!

God is not only saying this to me, but to you also!

During discomforting times, I urge you to find someone to comfort. In your pain, I encourage you to ease the pain of someone else.

That’s what God wants you to do!

He consoles us as we endure the pain and hardship of life so that we may draw from His comfort and share it with others in their own struggles.” 2 Corinthians 1:4 (VOICE)

Everything in our life — good and bad — is an opportunity for God’s glory to shine.

You will not be in this situation forever. There is a time and season for everything and this season will pass. So in the midst of your discomfort, I pray you find peace in these truths:

“We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.” Romans 8:28 (VOICE)

“And remember that I am always with you until the end of time.” Matthew 28:20 (GW)

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!” Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)
